Overview of the poultry industry

  • Tanzania produces both meat and eggs for the domestic and international markets. The market for day-old chicks also continues to grow steadily.

  • 3.7 million households in Tanzania keep poultry. Indigenous chickens are raised in the rural areas, contributing to 100% of the poultry meat consumed in the rural areas.
